Graffiti vandals often apply their tags in high or difficult to reach places, knowing that it will be more likely to remain untouched. In Sydney we were asked to remove graffiti that was four metres high, on the side of an apartment block.

Unfortunately, we get calls from many landlords and body corporates that have had their apartment blocks vandalised by graffiti. This vandalism reflects badly on the whole apartment complex, and can create a negative impression when trying to sell or rent an apartment.

As can be seen from the photos, the graffiti was not only high, it was on a boundary facing a creek which had a strong flow of water at certain times of the week. Special equipment and planning is needed to ensure a safe working area can be created.

The Graffiti Eaters conducted a site risk assessment which involved the following:

Coordination with the Sydney water board on water flow patterns, determining a suitable time when no water would flow.
The erection of mobile scaffolding which had to be carried into the location.
Two technicians on site for look out and site safety management.
Running clean hoses over 80 metres from the front of the property.
Collection of waste water, ensuring that chemical and paint residue did not enter the waterway.

Most work that is conducted on public land also requires applying for local council permits. For your peace of mind, our work practices are covered by a $20 million public liability insurance policy.

The Graffiti Eaters were able to successfully remove the graffiti, with no damage caused to the porous and worn brickwork.
