Unfortunately, it is a common problem – vandals putting graffiti on tree trunks. This can lead to damage to the tree if the wrong graffiti removal technique is employed.

We have seen trees permanently damaged by inexperienced people water blasting the bark from the tree. It is important not to damage the bark on the tree as the bark and outer surface is the carrier of water and food to the branches and leaves of the tree.

The Graffiti Eaters use one of two methods of removing graffiti from trees. Firstly removal of the graffiti using a cleaning solution that does not harm the tree. A second option is to patch paint the tree blending different colours to blend the paint in as best we can. This does not affect the tree, and in a short time the tree will shed its bark along with the paint, and grow new bark in its place.
